Missing by Dee Henderson - John Graham is the police chief in Cheyenne, Wyoming. When he receives word that his elderly mother is missing, he returns to Chicago. Together with the lieutenant in charge of the case, John begins to realize that maybe something from his past may have triggered his mother's disappearance.

My Thoughts - This one started off really good. I liked the dynamics between Sharon and John. I loved how they'd follow the clues. But then out of nowhere, the author threw in something that turned it in a completely different direction. Until then, I was really enjoying the story. My rating: 3 stars

Shadowed by Dani Pettrey - Ben McKenna is a simple Alaskan fisherman who takes tourists out on his fishing boat. When competitive swimmer Libby Jennings shows up in the rain for a whale watching tour, neither she or Ben expect to be drawn into a web of deceit and situations involving more than just the body they found.

My Thoughts - I loved this story. I loved getting to meet the parents of the McKenna siblings from the Alaskan Courage series. Like all of Dani's books, this story was a thrill ride from start to finish. This was my favorite of the three novellas. My rating: 5 stars

Blackout by Lynette Eason - A young woman, Macey, has been having blackouts over the past several years that are linked back to when she was an unintended part of a burglary gone wrong. When neighbor Chad hears her scream one evening, he rushes over. Together Chad and Macey begin a race against time to see who is trying to kill her. Is it all tied into her past?

My Thoughts - This was another one that I really enjoyed. I loved how quickly it moved. I was glad that my suspicions were proved wrong. It kept me on the edge of my seat. My rating: 4 stars

Overall Thoughts - This novella collection is overall really good. It's fun to pick a collection of novellas and have them being romantic suspense. Fans of these authors will enjoy this book.

Reef McKeena has finally returned home. Accepting his family's love and forgiveness hasn't always been easy for him, but he's working hard to make them proud of him. When he volunteers to do Search and Rescue for the Iditarod race, he finds himself paired with local vet Kirra Jacobs. Kirra was a goody-goody growing up. And she and Reef were always at odds for some reason or another. He's the last person she wants to be partnered with, but he claims to have changed. When Reef catches her sneaking out of camp one night in search of her uncle, who has gone missing, Reef knows he has to join her. Soon the pair find themselves racing against time, and the race itself, to get answers and locate Kirra's kidnapped cousin before disaster strikes. But as Reef and Kirra are pulled into more and more danger, neither can deny their growing feelings. Reef wants to show Kirra that he would never hurt her, but Kirra's been hurt bad in the past and is afraid to trust this former bad-boy.

I think that this conclusion to the McKenna family saga is my favorite. I have loved each book in this series, but for some reason, Reef just climbed further into my heart than the other siblings.

True to Pettrey's style, this book is an adventure ride to the finish. I actually found myself having to put the book down because I needed sleep. I love the family dynamics in the McKenna family. I love how they are willing to help each other out, no questions asked.

I also loved how Reef didn't pressure Kirra to share her past. Yes he finds out. But he was willing to give her space. I also loved how Kirra had no other option but to trust Reef.

While I'm sad to say goodbye to this family, I'm excited to see what Dani has in store for her readers next.

Like every book in the Alaskan Courage Series, this one is one I enjoyed immensely. This has been one my most anticipated books so far this year. I'm happy to say that Silenced didn't disappoint.

I loved watching Jake and Kayden get to the truth. I loved the interaction with the rest of the McKenna clan. I loved getting a glimpse into Reef's story for the next book. I loved how protective of Kayden Jake is. I think that this is my favorite family next to Dee Henderson's O'Malleys. Jake has been my favorite character since the first book.

Sure there's romance in it. A couple of weddings as well. But there is a TON of adventure and suspense. Dani's stories are always filled with a mix of romance, adventure, and suspense.

Stranded - A Review

Darcy St. James didn't expect to return to Alaska so soon. When she answers a plea for help from a reporter friend of hers, Darcy thinks that she'll enjoy an Alaskan cruise while helping to figure out what has Abby scared. She didn't expect Abby to go missing. She also didn't expect that her cover would cause her to work closely with the McKennas, especially Gage. Gage McKenna is pleased to have the family company, Last Frontier Adventures, being the sole excursion provider for the Bering cruise ship. He's also joining the crew as the on-ship liaison. The last person he expects to see is Darcy St. James. She walked into his heart last winter, and he's been trying to forget her. So when he finds her up to her ears in an investigation, he thinks he's been right all along and she's more concerned with her career than those around her. He couldn't be more wrong. But with danger lurking around every corner and timing running out on both the cruise and the investigation, the pair join forces to get to the bottom of things. But will either heart be able to recover?

I've loved the McKenna family since the first book. I actually think that this one is my favorite one of the series so far. Filled with romance and adventure as well as faith, I was engrossed from the first page. I read this book entirely in one setting because I didn't want to put it down. There are so many things I loved about this book. Gage is a wounded soul and it shows. Yet he's also a strong character. He's loyal to his family and to those who have managed to get into his heart. I also loved the fact that Jake and Kayden had a larger role in this book than they've had in the past. And finding out more about Jake's past is a bonus!

Like the other heroes in this series, Gage is featured at the Fiction Hero Features as a hero of the month. I invite my readers to head over there and read the exclusive tidbits about Gage.

Shattered - A Review

Piper McKenna loves her brother. So when he shows up on her doorstep covered in blood, she firmly believes he's innocent. Convincing Deputy Landon Grainger of that is something else entirely. Landon's trying to do his job, despite the fact that his boss is pushing for a quick conviction and that the evidence all points to Reef McKenna, brother of the woman Landon loves. When Piper launches her own investigation, Landon realizes that he has to keep her safe from herself. Yet someone is determined to pin the murder on Reef and will stop at anything to see that justice isn't served. Will Landon and Piper be able to get to the truth before something else happens? And when will they admit their feelings?

I read the first book in this series, Submerged and loved it. The McKennas remind me of Dee Henderson's O'Malley family. Like those in the O'Malley series, this book stands alone. It is helpful to read the first in the series, but not necessary. Romance, suspense, and adventure all abound in this book. I loved that the characters are believable and they obviously love their family. There were very few things that I didn't enjoy about the book, and I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I'm hoping it will be about either Gage or Kayden.
