Giveaway - Welcome to Last Chance

Happy Sunday morning everyone. Today, I'm going to giveaway a print copy of the novel Welcome to Last Chance. I really enjoyed this book.

To enter, leave a comment answering this question - Tell me about a time when your car broke down and you were stranded somewhere.

For me, I won't ever forget the time when my car battery died while I was at work. It happened to be on an evening in December and it was snowing! Snowing in Houston, doesn't happen all that often. Anyway,  thankfully, I had a co-worker who hadn't left yet who not only lived on my side of town, but he was able to bring me home. Then the next day, I bought a battery and lugged it to work in a suitcase and had one of the guys who work with me change it for me.

  2. I was driving in a very rural mountainous area and my car broke down and it was 95 degrees. I had to walk a couple of miles over the mountain to find an old country store to call someone to come help me.

  5. I'm very fortunate to say that I've never had a breakdown and been stranded somewhere. I have had car issues before but luckily never have been stranded somewhere.

  6. Fortunately, my car never broke down when I was single. My husband, myself, and our small son were returning from visiting his family in MN. We took the back way instead of the highway. Luckily, we ended up in a small town just in time. It was very hot, so my son and I went to the Library and also to a café for cold drinks. The garage did their best to get us on our way.

  7. When I was in my late teens my car broke down on a Sunday afternoon. Back then many stores were closed on Sunday and there were few phone booths around. I ended up walking several miles to a restaurant and asked to use their phone. Fortunately, they allowed me to call my parents and they came to pick me up.

  10. Thankfully I have never had a dead battery or ran out of gas, but I do seem to have my share of tire issues! Most recently I had pulled of the interstate to stop at CVS on my way home from work. When I came out I had a flat tire=( And the tire was not fixable, so thankfully I have roadside assistance and they came and put my spare on and there was a Firestone just down the street, probably less than a 1/2 mile away...

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  12. Book looks good. I have been a couple times. First one was taking my son to school I was going around a corner and all of a sudden the car jerked and that was it, What happened was the tierod broke and here I am in the middle of the road. We was a few blocks where we lived I had no cell phone so my son ran home got his Dad out of bed he came and called a tow truck to get it. Mean time a cop stops and tells me to move it out of the road. I told don't you think I would if I could. He was smart with me I told him a tow truck was in route to get it. He says I am going around the block I'll be back and I will give you a ticket. And call in our tow truck. I told he would not do that I have one on the way. ( ok to let you know it was a racket their the cop was getting a kickback from tow company, which later they ended up getting caught and in major trouble for) Messed with wrong lady!

  13. My car broke down on the way home from taking my son to the hospital for his chemo treatment. He got a ride home from a friend and I stayed and waited for a wrecker. That was not a good day.

  15. Broke down 10 minutes from college campus outside of Boston my sophomore year, but I had just transferred and didn't know anyone with a car. Had to call my dad (a preacher) on Sunday morning; he drove more than an hour to rescue me, while a deacon handled church service for him!

Thanks for the giveaway! Would love to read this!

  16. My brother was getting married and my Mom and me were driving from Northern part of Louisiana to Houston. Our car broke down in the stretch between Beaumont and Houston. This was in 1979 and there was not a lot of businesses in this area plus no cell phones. It was horrible. My Dad got there and we finally made it, but it was a fiasco.

  19. I have been single for quite a few years & have lived in several different states, requiring a lot of driving back home for visits. I have been stranded on the road numerous times over the years, but thankfully - none recently. I have locked my keys in the car, run out of gas, had the accelerator pedal break while driving, catalytic converter problems that stranded me in a strange town overnight, a faulty gas gauge (on a new car)that left me stranded on the interstate on a winter night, a flat tire while driving on the interstate at night,- all stressful situations in which the Lord kept me safe & provided help.
